Slidecast - Voice Tools for Language and Literacy

I have just managed to synch the audio with the slides from a recent presentation on Online Voice Tools for Language and Literacy. The original session was held in Skype. I recorded both sides of the conversation (me and online participants) and uploaded the audio to the Internet archive.

I uploaded the slides into Slideshare and used their synching audio and slides tool to create a slidecast. I'm really happy with the result and now I know how to do this I'll be doing it again. Here is the final product.

(It's 45 minutes long.)

The Internet archive also provides the embedding code so you can listen to the audio only right here:

Michael,
Once again, thanks for introducing me to new online combinations and possibilities. I have just made my first 'Slidecast' and think this hybrid tool promises all sorts of creative freedoms.
Thanks also for taking me back to the 'Internet Archive' which I've not visited in years. As you say, it is much improved.
I'd love to know how you recorded the Skype conversation.
Also, thinking of this presentation continuing to engage beyond one particualr event, I would have enjoyed being able to activate the links to 'Voicethread' and the other examples in blue.
Since recently adding your site to Feedblitz, I now receive e-mail alerts when you make a new post. Although there are many other ways of catching up on the latest blog postings,I like the simplicity of this.
Keep up your good work,
Delia.

Hi Delia. Recording the Skype conversation is this case was quite primitive - I just had my mp3 recorder on the desk picking up my voice and the voices of others via the speakers. There are programs like Pamela and Powergramo that are specifically designed for recording conversations in Skype.

Re the links - if you view the pres at http://www.slideshare.net/michaelc/online-voice-tools-for-language-and-literacy-presentation the bits in blue are actually hyperlinked so you should be able to access them there.

Silly me! I'd not thought to try and see if they were hyper-linked. Thanks, Michael...

I liked your slideshow. I saved it into two of my groups. Had you already sent it to Twitter? Always good to follow Oz educators.Elaine
